music to my ears

i actually bought a cd! i haven't done that in awhile, cds are so 00's
hooray for new music! especially GOOD (oh my gosh, caps!) new music...i've been jamming out to some real gems on my lunch hour and commute to and from work the past few weeks, so i thought i'd share it with y'all what i've been listening too.  i've really been on a singer/songwriter kick lately...something about the personal touch of a not-overly pop song that i love.  i think i'm just a sap for well written love songs that most girls would swoon over if they were sung to/written about them (gah, i wish i could write songs like that)

first up is mat kearney - young love.  such an awesome, beat driven, up-beat cd.  perhaps it's because since his last album mat has gotten married (curses!) and so now he all happy and junk with his new wife, and it really does come out in these songs.  favorites off the album are count on me, chasing the light, and she got the honey...but the album as a whole is simply amazing, well done mat.

next up is the weepies - be my thrill.  the weepies have been a favorite for awhile, always simple folksy gold.  very good chill music just to sit around and do nothing to.  my favorite off the album right now is 'this is not a lullaby'

ben rector - into the morning is free from noisetrade! (link to it on the left) if i could play the piano like this guy and write such original heartfelt songs, you'd have to hide your daughters! (just kidding, no need to hide them, no really...please don't.  just hide them from ben ;) ) highlights include the beat, when a heart breaks, and white dress

this little jewel is also free off of noisetrade, trent dabbs' - southerner.  (shout out to lacey and her blog for this one, i think she's freakin' awesome and you should too!) very cool cd, it's hard to describe (acoustic awesomeness?), but worth a listen cause it's free :D

lastly is a cd i just got this morning from a co-worker (left unnamed to protect the innocent) (just kidding, her name is janis, she's our receptionist and she's super nice) so i haven't had much time to listen to it, but here's an except from matt's website:
"Every song on this record is going to be inspired by the stories of your lives. I will be giving you a chance to write to me and submit your story. The story can be about anything. A defining moment in your life. A difficult time you’ve faced. Your own personal testimony. Or even what God means to you. It could be anything. There are no boundaries or limitations."
so the subject matter on the cd is from personal stories people sent it, some of it really heavy stuff at points when people were just probably at rock bottom and crying out to God.  i caught some snippets of it while going about my morning playing it in the background, and it kept catching my ear with some really good stuff.  i defiantly recommend you go check this one out.

well, that's all i have for now...i'll be back soon, with who knows what. (maybe even a recipe for bacon wrapped deep fried cookie dough tiramisu...yeah thats right, cookie dough, bacon, and frying makes anything better!)
