| pooh going undercover for a covert operation |
everything seems good when you wake up. just another day, nothing out of the ordinary planned. then you realize your registration sticker never made it from the mailbox to the license plate of your car, so you have to spend your lunch hour at the dmv trying to get a replacement (ok ok, that was a little specific, but i'm sure you've had those things that throw a curveball into your day)
who knew something so simple as not having cash on my person whilst in the dmv would cause such a headache. i always seem to conveniently forget anytime i go that you can only do one of two things to pay at the dmv; cash or check. so boring story short, i had to leave the dmv, get cash, come back, wait in line AGAIN, just to hand the lady 20 bucks and her give me a tiny red sticker with "12" and my license plate number on it. (if you've seen my car, you know i LOVE stickers. this sticker, however, i did not)
so my point of this blog is not to give a boring narrative of my lunch hour at the dmv and how it ruined my day...but how a little bear named pooh made me feel so much better.
pooh is my homeboy, him and i go way back. my mom claims that "pooh" was one of the first words i learned how to say (whether that word had an "h" on the end of it or not is up for debate, as it is a silent "h", therefore no one can truly know for sure) it is one of my favorite childhood cartoons, and i remember watching pooh and his friends adventures in the hundred acre wood very often. last night for our "stimulus tuesday" movie we saw "Winnie the Pooh" and it was great. sure it wasn't as good as the movies / tv show i remember from my youth...but it still had everything it needed to make me feel like i was a little kid again. i really want to go find copies of the older movies / tv episodes on dvd and re-watch them now just to relive those awesome childhood moments.
today i will leave you with two things, one of my favorite winnie the pooh songs (see below) and a question...what things from your childhood always bring back good memories and can make you feel better no matter what?
I'm just a little black rain cloud
hovering under the honey tree,
Only a little black rain cloud,
pay no attention to little me.
Everyone knows that a rain cloud
never eats honey, no, not a nip.
I'm just floating around over the ground,
wondering where I will drip.
hovering under the honey tree,
Only a little black rain cloud,
pay no attention to little me.
Everyone knows that a rain cloud
never eats honey, no, not a nip.
I'm just floating around over the ground,
wondering where I will drip.
